Simmons Bank Field
Pine Bluff, United States
Formerly: Golden Lion Stadium
The Liberty Bowl does not sit in Pine Bluff. This is not the home of the Golden Lions.
Simmons Bank Field is the correct name for the venue in Pine Bluff. It sits on Oliver Road. The surface is artificial, a synthetic turf known as IRONTURF. The ground replaced Pumphrey Stadium when it opened in 2000. Before that, the team played on Athletic Field. The facility was originally called Golden Lion Stadium. The name changed in 2018 after a donation from Simmons Bank funded renovations that included a new video scoreboard. The permanent capacity stands at 16,000. A crowd of over 40,000 once gathered here for the "Battle for the Golden Egg" against Grambling State in 2007. The team plays in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). They won the West Division Championship in 2020, beating Prairie View A&M 36–31 to earn a spot in the final.
