The Southern Road ground is a simple, functional shape against the sky. The site has changed hands over time, first belonging to the club and later passing to the local council, but the spirit of the place remains unchanged.

The matchday experience is not about luxury but about proximity. Fans stand close to the action, separated only by a low barrier and the natural grass pitch. The capacity has always been a matter of debate, with figures ranging from 1,500 to 2,395 depending on who you ask, but the atmosphere has never depended on numbers. The ground has seen its share of history, particularly in the FA Cup qualifying rounds, where Exmouth Town reached the 4th Qualifying Round in both 1988–89 and 1989–90. More recently, the addition of new stands in 2023 brought a degree of comfort to the matchday experience, with around 150 seated spots under cover.

The community investment that followed the club's promotion to the Southern League saw the construction of a new pavilion and youth pitches, funded by a local housing development. This connection between the club and its surroundings is evident in every corner of the ground. The record attendance of 2,395, set during a friendly against Liverpool in 1987, remains a testament to the club's ability to draw crowds, even if such occasions are rare.

The stadium is not a destination in itself, but it serves as a home for a team that has weathered the changes of modern football. It is a place where the game is played at its simplest level, with little between the players and the fans.
