This is the quiet side of **Stade du 28 Septembre**, a venue where the history sits heavy in the air.

Groupe Guicopres confirmed the work includes a new natural grass pitch with modern drainage, a detail that explicitly denies earlier rumours of synthetic turf. The aim is to meet the strict homologation standards of the Confederation of African Football. The capacity is currently set at 25,000.

The ground serves as the primary home for **Horoya AC**. **Hafia FC**, a rival local club, also utilises the space for its biggest derbies and cup matches, drawn by the sheer size of the enclosure compared to their own smaller grounds. The pitch remains natural grass.

On September 28, 2009, the ground became the site of a massacre of opposition protesters, an event that the International Criminal Court is currently investigating. The name now carries a weight that goes beyond sport.

Before that, the stadium hosted the final group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1976 and more recently qualified matches for the tournament. It has also seen state funerals for presidents and political rallies. The Soviet Union built the structure, and it has stood in the Dixinn district of Conakry since 1964.
