Stadion SR Donaufeld
Vienna, Austria
Formerly: Sportplatz Donaufeld, Donaufelderplatz, Stadion Donaufeld
The ground at Nordmanngasse 24 does not shout for attention.
The stadium is a working pitch rather than a monument, built with practicality in mind. Gerhard Hanappi designed the site when it opened in 1965, replacing the old Ringelseeplatz. The change brought a seated stand, a feature that was expanded in 1992 when the earth bank was removed and the capacity was set at 4,000.
There is a quiet history here. The attendance record was set during a match against Favoritner AC in 1991. Since 2018, an American football team, the Danube Dragons, has played its home games here, using the old changing rooms as a gym while the main pitch hosts football. The stadium has seen the development of players like Saša Kalajdžić.
