Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium
Portales, United States
Formerly: Greyhound Stadium
Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium It opened in 2016 as a replacement for the aging Greyhound Stadium, which operated from 1969 to 2015. The new venue cost roughly £11 million to build and seats 6,100, though the standard capacity sits at 5,200. It was renamed on July 30, 2024, after a £2 million donation from alumnus Steve Loy and his wife Linda.
The pitch is covered in UBU Turf, an artificial surface with 11 inches of gravel and 2 inches of fine sand beneath the playing sheet. The field is ringed by an eight-lane running track, and the stadium includes lighting for night fixtures and a 40 by 40 video board. The seating is arranged in a simple, functional layout. The stadium retains the general footprint but modernised the facilities and infrastructure.
The ground hosts Eastern New Mexico University’s Greyhounds football, soccer, and track and field teams, and Portales High School can also use the facility. It is located at 1201 University Place.
The video board and lighting ensure that evening matches and training sessions can proceed without interruption.
