TDECU Stadium
Houston, United States
The stadium is a replacement for what came before. The old Robertson Stadium was demolished in 2012, and this structure opened in its place in 2014. It was built for the University of Houston Cougars, and the pitch itself carries a different name: John O'Quinn Field. The surface is artificial turf. The facility was designed with expansion in mind, with infrastructure for 60,000 seats, but the current capacity sits at 40,000.
The atmosphere is shaped by the city around it. The venue has also hosted professional football, including matches for the Houston Roughnecks in the United Football League (UFL).
The most recent changes have been cosmetic and functional. New premium seating areas were added around 2024, and a large sideline-to-sideline video board now dominates the left side of the stadium. The name on the building changed recently, from TDECU Stadium to Space City Financial Stadium, following a merger in the financial sector. The official attendance record of 42,822 was set in 2016 against the Louisville Cardinals. The most significant crowd since then was for a game against the Texas Longhorns in 2023, with 42,812 in the stands.
