Decades later, the stadium saw further international attention during the 2011 African Nations Championship, though the scale of those events differed markedly from the 1970 tournament. The capacity is currently listed at 15,000, a figure that reflects its enduring utility rather than any recent expansion. While the exact year of its opening remains unclear, the ground existed by 1970, standing as a witness to the evolution of Sudanese football.

It serves as the home for Ittihad Wad Medani, Al Ahly Wad Medani, and Jazeerat Al-Feel, clubs that play with a sense of local pride.
