Yunevich Stadium
Alfred, United States
Formerly: Merrill Field
Yunevich Stadium stands on 134 North Main Street in Alfred, New York. The ground, originally known as Merrill Field after the benefactor who donated the land, has hosted college football for over a century. It was officially renamed in 2014 to honour Alex Yunevich, the winningest coach in the institution's history.
The surface plays a part in how the team performs. The alternating shades of green mark the 10-yard lines. While the official capacity sits at 3,000, some records list the number slightly lower.
September 11, 1993, remains the day the attendance record was set. The stadium also hosted the Saxons’ playoff victories in 2016, when they travelled to Bridgewater State and then hosted Western New England, securing their place in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
More recent work included the addition of a video scoreboard dedicated to Bob and Pat Codispoti in 2018 and drainage improvements in 2023. The ground serves the football team, but also hosts the men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse squads.
