Dutch Basketball Cup (Netherlands) 2025/26

The TOTO Basketball Cup stands as the primary domestic knockout tournament for basketball in the Netherlands. Organized by Basketball Nederland, the competition operates alongside the league system but concludes with a single match final in the spring. This structure offers a distinct path to silverware than the league playoffs.

Approximately 52 clubs enter the contest across the national pyramid. Teams from lower divisions compete in preliminary rounds before professional sides from the top tier, currently the BNXT League, join in Round 4. The quarter-finals and semi-finals typically feature two-legged ties, although single-leg formats apply in specific lower-tier versus top-tier matchups. The decisive final takes place at a neutral venue.

The tournament was established in 1967, with the first edition played during the 1967–68 season. Known originally as the NBB Cup, it adopted the name TOTO Basketball Cup in 2019 following a sponsorship agreement with the Dutch national lottery. Heroes Den Bosch holds the record for the most titles with nine. Donar claimed the most recent edition, defeating Landstede Hammers 78–77. Previous winners include ABC Amsterdam with five titles, while ZZ Leiden and Flamingo’s Haarlem have each secured four.

No promotion or relegation is attached to the cup; it remains a standalone prestige competition. The format ensures that teams from Divisie 1 through 6 have an opportunity to progress against higher-ranked opponents. The event runs concurrently with the regular season, culminating in a spring finale that highlights the breadth of participation across the country.
