Lobos Plateados saw off Gambusinos 79-65 in the LNBP on Saturday evening. The visitors closed out a comfortable victory in Mexico, extending their winning momentum after a mixed run of results.
By then, the gap had opened up enough to settle any nerves. Lobos Plateados took control with a sharper shooting display, converting 30 field goals from 61 attempts. Gambusinos managed 25 from 66, and the difference in efficiency showed through.
and here's the thing — the free-throw line decided much of it. Lobos Plateados hit 13 of 18 attempts, while Gambusinos could only find 6 of 10. The visitors also claimed more rebounds, 32 to 27, and took the ball away more often with six steals.
To be fair, Gambusinos did shoot better from distance. They made nine three-pointers from 27 attempts, compared to six from 26 for the hosts. But the extra points at the line and on the boards tipped the balance.
The result keeps Lobos Plateados in reasonable shape after their recent struggles. They had lost to Fersa Rega de Monterrey on Friday but bounced back with wins against Diablos Rojos and Dorados in the days before. Gambusinos, meanwhile, dropped their latest meeting after a narrow victory over Freseros de Irapuato.
There is no value left at that number when you cannot close out shots. Lobos Plateados now move forward with confidence, while Gambusinos will need to find more consistency if they want to challenge.
