Fred VanVleet Ramps Up Recovery Workload
Rockets coach Ime Udoka says VanVleet, recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus, is now doing limited-contact training in San Diego ahead of the season.
Fred VanVleet is building up his workload with limited-contact training in San Diego as he works his way back from a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said.
VanVleet suffered the injury before the start of last season. Udoka has also missed time with two ACL tears.
The update comes in a week when Houston has otherwise been talking roster depth rather than injury recovery: Rafael Stone praised the additions of Marcus Smart and Bogdan Bogdanovic for toughness and shooting, days after Amen Thompson signed a five-year, $208 million extension. VanVleet's return to full training completes a backcourt the Rockets have been assembling since September.
