Trail Blazers Sign Lee Hyun-jung to Exhibit 10 Deal
Portland adds the 25-year-old swingman on a non-guaranteed contract after his standout Summer League run with San Antonio and B.League MVP season.
Portland have signed Lee Hyun-jung, a 25-year-old South Korean swingman, to an Exhibit 10 deal — a non-guaranteed contract that gives him a shot at a roster spot in training camp.
Lee made his name at this year's Summer League with San Antonio. Across eight matches he averaged 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds. His standout outing came against Utah, where he came off the bench, played 22 minutes and scored 22 points, going 4 of 7 from three, adding 5 rebounds and a block.
Before the Summer League he had a strong season in Japan's B.League with Nagasaki Velca, where he was named MVP of the finals. Nagasaki play out of the 6,000-capacity Happiness Arena and currently sit top of the B.League.
A guaranteed roster spot is still not on offer. Exhibit 10 deals exist for exactly this purpose — to let teams test fringe players through camp and preseason before deciding whether to keep them, convert them to a two-way contract, or waive them. For Lee, camp now becomes the audition that Summer League started.
