Harvey Lewis Barnes

Newcastle signed Harvey Barnes from Leicester City in July 2023 for a reported fee of around £38 million, with some reports putting the total closer to £44 million once add-ons are included, and handed him a five-year contract. The left winger, who plays off his right foot, joined the club's academy in 2007 and signed his first professional deal in 2016.

Barnes needed time away from Leicester to sharpen up before he became a first-team regular, going out on three separate loans: to Milton Keynes Dons, where he was named Young Player of the Year, then to Barnsley, and later to West Bromwich Albion. Back at Leicester, he developed into one of the club's most productive attackers, winning the Young Player of the Season award in 2019–20 and picking up the Premier League's Goal of the Month for August that year. He lifted the FA Cup with Leicester in 2020–21 and added the Community Shield the following season.

His first major trophy at Newcastle came in the EFL Cup final against Liverpool on 16 March 2025, which Newcastle won 2–1. Barnes started the game as a replacement for the suspended Anthony Gordon and set up Alexander Isak's goal.

Barnes has also represented England, making his senior debut on 8 October 2020 as a substitute in a 3–0 friendly win over Wales. He was part of the England under-20 side that won the Toulon Tournament in 2017.
