Sergio Ismael Díaz Velázquez

Sergio Díaz came through at Cerro Porteño, making his senior debut in 2014 and winning the Torneo Clausura the following year. The move that defined his career came in July 2016, when Real Madrid paid €5 million to take him to Castilla. The following years were spent out on loan: at Lugo in Spain, then at Corinthians in Brazil, where he won the Campeonato Paulista in 2019, and later at Club América in Mexico.

Paraguay brought him back rather than a permanent move elsewhere. He returned to Cerro Porteño on loan in 2019 and rejoined the club outright in 2022, adding a second league title, the Torneo Apertura, in 2020. His contract there was terminated in 2023, clearing the way for a free transfer to Panetolikos in Greece, where he stayed for two seasons, making 48 appearances and scoring five goals before leaving in June 2025. He then returned to Paraguay as a free agent to sign for Sportivo Luqueño.

At international level, Díaz progressed through Paraguay's youth setup at U17, U20 and U23, but his senior involvement has been limited to a single appearance, in 2017, without scoring.
