About the player
Sergi Solans's route to Major League Soccer ran through two American university campuses. Born in Lleida, he started out in Girona's academy, and a loan at CF Peralada in the 2022–23 season produced 11 goals in 27 appearances. Back at Girona B he added three goals in 17 outings.
The move to American college soccer. At Oregon State in 2024, Solans scored 14 goals with three assists in just 16 games, earning West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Third-Team All-America recognition. He then transferred to UCLA for 2025, netting 16 goals and adding six assists in 19 matches as the Bruins won the Big Ten Championship; he was named the Big Ten Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
He signed his first professional contract in January 2026 and extended it through the 2029–30 season, with a club option for a further year, by that August. He has not yet featured for the senior Spain national team.
