Al Arabi

Al Arabi own a 13,000-capacity stadium in Doha, the Grand Hamad Stadium, and it plays no part in their basketball. It is an outdoor football ground. The basketball team play in the 3,000-seat Al Gharafa Sports Hall.

The basketball side dates from 1952, when it started as the Doha branch of Al Ahli. In 1972 it merged with two other clubs and took the name Al Arabi. The badge shows a ceremonial falcon, the colours are red and white, and the team goes by Fareeg Al-Ahlam and the Red Devils.

The first great run came early. After league titles in 1975 and 1976, Al Arabi won five in a row between 1982 and 1986, and added another in 1992 and one in 1994. Then came a wait until 2018, the year they also won the Amir Cup for the first time by beating Al Sadd 88–77. Since 2024 they have won the league every season through 2026.

Al Sadd are the opponent that matters most. Their meetings are the fixture Qatari basketball treats as the league's main rivalry, and Al Arabi met them again in the 2026 Amir Cup final, winning 84–63. That season's Qatar Basketball Cup, beaten Al Shamal 77–71 in the final, was their third in a row. Under head coach Hatem Mamlouk, the current squad includes Elmedin Kikanovic, DeMarco Dickerson and Ousmanediatta Dieng.

Abroad, the Arab Club Basketball Championship went to Doha in 2024 after an 81–71 win over Al Ittihad. The West Asian Super League is the one regional competition Al Arabi have not won.
