Feeniks Basket Women

Urheilutalo Feeniks stands at Opintie 4 in Forssa. Locals also call it Feeniks Areena, and it holds at least 1,080 spectators. Its walls carry the name of the club that plays there, and the women's team wears light pink and white, with pink as the main colour, in front of those stands. The English form of the name, Phoenix, is the one most people use for the team.

The women's senior side is young. It was assembled for the 2024–2025 season and went into the I Divisioona, the Finnish second division, that same year. The squad mixes two generations. Some players are experienced hands who once played for Forssan Alku, known locally as FoKoPo. The rest are current or former Feeniks juniors. The older players bring the memory of a town that once ran the show in Finnish women's basketball.

Forssan Alku won the Finnish championship, the Naisten Korisliiga, eight times between 1988 and 1999. The parent society dates from 1913, and basketball came to it in 1944. Those titles belong to Forssan Alku, and the current Feeniks team has none of its own. It does have players who wore the old shirt and a sports hall that keeps the name.

The Feeniks name goes back to spring 2017. Forssan Alku and another local club, Forssan Koripojat, merged their junior sections that spring and formed Feeniks Basket ry. The women's team of 2024 is the first senior side to grow from that youth work.
