Sutjeska has built its record around near misses rather than titles. The club has never won the Montenegrin First League, finishing runner-up in 2009/10 and third in four other seasons through the late 2000s.
The player most identified with the club is Rade Mijatović, a goalkeeper who went on to captain the Montenegro national team.
