Stadium
Amman International Stadium
Amman, Jordan
The grass inside is green and natural, maintained by a system that keeps it in order.
It was completed in 1968 by a Belfast firm that brought their plans across the sea. The stadium has kept its name ever since, with no sponsors changing its identity. The capacity was trimmed down in 2007 to meet safety rules, leaving it with space for fewer than 18,000 people. The original stands held a much larger crowd when the games were newer.
It hosted the final of the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, a moment that brought the world's eye to the city. The same ground also saw the final of the 2007 AFC Cup. Beyond football, it has staged concerts for the royal family and events for the local athletics association.
