Arena Astros
Guadalajara, Mexico
Formerly: Complejo Panamericano de Voleibol
Arena Astros sits in the Jardines del Country neighbourhood of Zapopan. For years it played a different role entirely, built to host volleyball for the 2011 Pan American Games before a renovation in 2019 shifted its focus to basketball. The Astra de Jalisco now call it home.
Inside, the floor is natural wood. There is a central screen hanging above the centre circle, and you can spot the VIP seating near the main entrance. The capacity is 3,509.
The arena has hosted significant events, including the 2023 Men's Pan American Volleyball Cup final between Brazil and Canada. It has also seen FIBA qualifying matches for the Mexican National Basketball Team and major boxing events, such as Jaime Munguía's fight against Gonzalo Coria in November 2022. The Astros de Jalisco won the CIBACOPA finals here in 2022 and 2023.
The building itself carries the name Polideportivo Manuel Ávila Camacho, though the Astros branding dominates the signage. The renovation included the installation of VIP seating and the central screen, transforming a multi-purpose hall into a dedicated basketball venue. The price has gone up since the 2007 opening, but the atmosphere remains intimate.
