Basketball Center Khimki
Khimki, Russia
Formerly: Novator Palace of Sports
The Basketball Center Khimki sits on the site of its predecessor, the Palace of Sports "Novator", which was reconstructed rather than replaced. It opened in 2005, funded by the Moscow Region budget, and stands alongside the larger Arena Khimki football stadium, though the two serve different purposes.
Inside, the wooden floor is standard for basketball, and the seating rises in tiers around the court. The regular fan capacity is cited as 4,000 by some sources, while others place it at 3,500, including media and VIP sections bringing the total to 5,025. The entrance is on Kirova Street, and the venue is managed by the Autonomous Institution "Arena Khimki".
The center hosted the 2012 EuroCup Final Four, where BC Khimki won the title, and in 2006 it held an exhibition against the Los Angeles Clippers — the first such meeting between a Moscow Region club and an NBA team. Combat sports events and cultural concerts have also filled the hall, though the basketball matches remain the main draw. The arena does not have a website of its own separate from the football stadium’s.
