Bishopsgate

Longford, Ireland

Formerly: Strokestown Road, Flancare Park, City Calling Stadium

The stand captured in the photograph is the defining feature of Bishopsgate, the home of Longford Town F.C. The supporters look out over a pitch of natural grass that was awarded the FAI Pitch of the Year in 2018. The ground sits on the Strokestown Road (N5) in Longford, County Longford, Ireland.

Longford Town are one of the few clubs in the League of Ireland to own their stadium outright. The venue opened in 1994, replacing the club's previous temporary home at Abbeycartron. It has seen several name changes due to sponsorship, originally known as Strokestown Road before being renamed Flancare Park following a major redevelopment in 2001. It became City Calling Stadium in 2013 and was renamed Bishopsgate in November 2019. The capacity is 5,097, comprising 4,977 seated and 120 standing places.

The ground has hosted significant events, including four group stage matches of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2019, which featured England against France. It also staged the League Cup final in 2004, which Longford Town won. In January 2025, Storm Éowyn caused significant damage to the perimeter wall and front stand, with repairs completed by October 2025. The highest recorded attendance is 5,500, set during an FAI Cup match against St. Patrick’s Athletic in February 2001.

The pitch remains a focal point, having been recognised for its quality in 2018. The club’s history is written in the changes of name, from Strokestown Road to Bishopsgate, reflecting the evolution of the town and the team. The official website is https://ltfc.ie/.
