The Bonver Aréna stands in the Moravská Ostrava borough. The building wears its colours plainly: with a large advertisement for bowling strung across the curved apex where the roof meets the sky. It does not hide behind landscaping or a grand facade, and the entrance sits at street level, open to the traffic that moves past it on Cingrova Street. Inside, the space is defined by the wooden parquet floor used for basketball. The capacity is modest, holding just 1,700 spectators for a game, a figure that keeps the atmosphere closer to a local school hall than a professional arena. The structure itself dates back to 1953, built by the Stavomontáže construction company under the architect Rudolf Šajdek. Its most notable feature was the innovative wooden lamella roof, a design inspired by Swedish constructions that allowed for such a wide span without internal supports. For decades, the hall belonged to the city under the name Hala Tatran. It has changed its name twice since then, becoming Čas Aréna in the early 2000s before settling on its current title in 2009. It serves as the home for NH Ostrava, a men's basketball club founded in the same year the building opened, and also hosts matches for the women's SBŠ Ostrava team. The venue is scheduled for demolition around 2027 to make way for urban development plans that include extending Místecká Street.

A visitor might notice the contrast between the functional, older architecture of the hall and the modern cars passing along the pavement outside. The building looks like it was designed to last, even if the plans for its future suggest otherwise. It is a place where the game is played on a hard, polished surface, and the fans sit close to the action, a setting that feels more intimate than the large, modern stadiums being built elsewhere in the country.
