Brose Arena
Bamberg, Germany
Formerly: Forum Bamberg, Jako Arena, Stechert Arena
Inside, advertising hoardings wrap the perimeter, showing Continental, TARGO X BANK, and Deutsche Post. A pink staircase leads up to the stands, and small blue portable toilets sit near the outside fencing. On match days, the arena fills quickly. Fans pack the seats, and banners hang from the railings. A large circular logo sits at centre court, and pink T-Mobile branding runs along the sideline. The atmosphere is straightforward: a local team playing in front of a crowd that knows every seat. The venue has hosted other events — a Davis Cup quarterfinal, some boxing bouts, a table tennis final — but basketball remains its purpose. The capacity shifts with the setup: 6,150 for seated games, more if standing room is added. It opened in 2001 after a renovation that added a new north stand and VIP boxes. Later updates brought video screens and acoustic improvements. Nothing about the building tries to hide its function. You walk in, you sit down, you watch the game. There are no hidden terraces or uneven sightlines, just a clean view of the court from every angle. When the match starts, the noise comes from the stands, not from the architecture. The arena does not lead; it holds.
