Estádio Arthur Sendas
São João de Meriti, Brazil
Formerly: Sendolândia, Arthurzão, Marrecão
The grounds are named for Arthur Sendas, the founder of the supermarket chain, who established the club in 1979.
The capacity of the ground is a matter of local debate. Some records suggest a sparse 560 seats, while others claim a figure closer to 3,000. The stadium has hosted the home matches of Audax Rio, though the team was forced to relocate to bigger venues after the ground was declared unfit for professional play in 2014.
The walls around the pitch are bare concrete, and a few years ago, a collision with one of these walls led to calls for the venue to be closed due to safety concerns. The players take to the field knowing that one mistake ends it, and the crowd watches from close quarters, unafraid of the dust.
