Gammliahallen
Umeå, Sweden
Formerly: Sporthallen, Udominate Arena
What has changed is the skin. The playing surface was replaced around September 2015, but the structure remains the same.
The hall was officially inaugurated on 18 November 1958 and was originally named Sporthallen. It was built under the supervision of the Umeå municipality to serve the Gammlia district. Inside, it hosts basketball, handball and floorball.
It has seen things the football stadium has not. The venue hosted Louis Armstrong in 1959 and Miles Davis in 1985. In more recent years, it has seen Eric Saade’s Pop Explosion on 21 April 2012, a concert that reportedly drew an audience of approximately 1,800 people. The arena is part of a larger complex that includes the Umeå Energi Arena, Vind for ice hockey, and the football stadium Umeå Energi Arena, Sol.
