Halden Arena

Nexans Arena Halden opened its doors in the autumn of 2024.

Asplan Viak designed the space. The seating is arranged to bring the crowd close to the action, a total capacity of 2,300 for the main events. It is not a cavernous echo chamber; the sound stays within the walls, close to the court.

For the local teams, the move here was a change of scenery. Halden Topphåndball played in Remmenhallen for years before switching to the new home in January 2024, just before the official grand opening. They share the space with Halden Håndballforening and the gymnastics club Fredrikshalds Turnforening. The hall is busy with activity, a hub for the town’s youth and adults alike, from the volleyball club to the basketball team. The fact that it serves multiple sports means the atmosphere shifts with the calendar, but the core of the building remains the same.

There is a sponsorship board above the main stand, and the name Nexans Arena Halden now sits above the door. It is a modern facility, bright and functional, lacking the romantic decay of older halls. It has been built for efficiency and comfort, rather than to preserve history. The ground outside is green grass; this ground is polished wood and padded walls.
