Opened in January 2005, the venue has not aged into a classic. It underwent a major renovation in January 2023, an investment of 150 million pesos that reconfigured two twin pavilions of 4,233.1 square metres each. The principal space is the Centro de Espectáculos, an indoor arena that holds 3,000 for basketball and can stretch to 6,000 for other events. The playing surface is not specified in sources.

It is the home of the Freseros de Irapuato basketball team in the LNBP, but the arena carries a wider banner. It hosted matches for the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Women’s Basketball World Cup and the 2024 Women’s Pan American Cup volleyball tournament. The building’s own identity is less sport than spectacle: the highest recorded attendance belongs to an Imagine Dragons concert on March 29, 2024, as part of the Feria de las Fresas. Over 80,000 people packed into the complex that day.

The address — Av. Siglo XXI No. 1156, Predio Los Sauces — is unremarkable, as is the postal code 36547. The football ground in Irapuato is a different building altogether, Estadio Sergio León Chávez. This one does not host matches of that sort. It hosts basketball, volleyball, and concerts.
