Jämtlandshallen

The venue commonly identified as Jämtlandshallen in Östersund is, in fact, the municipality’s primary multi-purpose arena, officially known as Östersund Arena. It replaced the former Z-hallen on December 6, 2013. The building serves as a hub for several sports, most notably hosting the ice hockey team Östersunds IK. It also accommodates curling, figure skating, and gymnastics. The surface is ice, artificially frozen for year-round use. For ice hockey events, the capacity stands at 2,073 spectators. For concerts, the number rises to 3,000.

The name Jämtlandshallen does not correspond to a distinct, primary venue in official records. It appears to be a misnomer or a local reference, possibly conflating the arena with the county name, Jämtland. There is a separate outdoor football stadium in the city, Jämtkraft Arena, which opened on July 13, 2007. That ground has an artificial turf surface and a capacity of 8,466. It was previously called Östersund Arena for football, which adds to the naming confusion. The indoor arena is located at Arenavägen 27. The distinction between the two venues is clear in practice: one is an indoor ice rink, the other an outdoor football pitch.

The indoor arena’s opening date is confirmed as 2013. The capacity figures vary depending on the event type. The city is Östersund. The primary function remains ice hockey. There is no evidence of a separate venue called Jämtlandshallen. The reference likely points to Östersund Arena. The details regarding the football stadium are separate and should not be conflated with the indoor arena. The capacity of 2,073 is specific to ice hockey. The 3,000 figure applies to concerts. The surface is ice. The date of opening is December 6, 2013. The city is Östersund.
