Kaiser Permanente Arena
Santa Cruz, United States
The Kaiser Permanente Arena rises on the waterfront at 140 Front Street. It opened in December 2012 as a temporary facility, given a design life of seven to ten years.
Its purpose is singular. The arena is configured exclusively for seated spectators, with no standing room, and the hardwood floor is set to NBA dimensions. It serves as the home of the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League , which has played there since the opening night in December 2012. The Warriors have been its tenant from the start.
Nothing on the exterior hints at the activity inside. The façade is plain concrete with metal cladding. There is no permanent signage beyond the arena's own name, which was secured by Kaiser Permanente in June 2012. The venue has never carried another name.
Other tenants have come and gone. The UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, an NCAA Division III basketball team, began playing here in 2013. The Santa Clara Broncos and Stanford Cardinal used the arena as an alternate venue during the 2020-2021 season. The Santa Cruz Derby Girls held roller derby matches at the facility from 2013 to 2014. No soccer team has ever played here; the arena was designed exclusively for basketball, and no attempt has been made to adapt it for football.
The capacity is 2,505 spectators.
