Kayte Lane
Bishop's Cleeve, United Kingdom
It is a small place, not one of the grand arenas, but a working football pitch where the local team plays its games. The pitch itself is bright green artificial turf, a 3G surface that replaced the natural grass after drainage problems made the old ground difficult to use. This change came with a wider refurbishment funded by the club and the local council.
You can see the floodlights standing around the perimeter, installed to allow evening fixtures on the all-weather surface. A tall ball retention fence keeps the play contained. The stands are modest, with a capacity of 1,500 people, though the crowds rarely fill the space. The club returned to this site in 2002 after a period of moving between different grounds, and they have stayed since.
The ground is also used by Cheltenham Town Women and for walking football, keeping the field busy throughout the week. The most significant moment in recent memory was an FA Cup match against Torquay United, which drew a crowd of more than 1,300 fans and ended in a win for the home side. That game proved the ground can still hold a special occasion.
