Mall of Asia Arena
Pasay, Philippines
The SM Mall of Asia Arena does not sit on a green site. It is tucked inside a shopping complex in Pasay City and sits at the southern end of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. The building opened on 21 May 2012 after construction that began in 2010, and it was designed by Arquitectonica.
Inside, the floor is maple hardwood on a portable Robbins All-Star Plus system. It is not permanent, and it is laid over the concrete base so the space can switch between basketball and volleyball without leaving marks.
The capacity is 15,000 for sporting events, and it extends to 20,000 for concerts. The highest recorded attendance for a single event is 13,446, set at a UFC match. The arena is not the permanent home of one professional team. It hosts the first two games of the Philippine Basketball Association Finals and shares its calendar with the UAAP and NCAA basketball championships, the Premier Volleyball League, and the national basketball and volleyball teams. It has also staged concerts and pre-season NBA matches between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers.
