Mobolaji Johnson Arena

The ground sits in the Onikan district of Lagos. The current surface is artificial, and the Super Eagles training sessions in 2023 found it difficult to adapt to.

The facility carries the name of Brigadier-General Mobolaji Johnson, the first military administrator of Lagos State. Before that, it was known as Onikan Stadium, and before that, King George V Stadium. The location has stayed fixed.

The capacity sits at 5,000, a figure arrived at after the 1980 renovations. It started as 10,000 when the original ground opened in 1936, though some sources tie that opening to 1930.

The venue hosts the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). Sporting Lagos FC, Ikorodu City FC, Ikorodu United FC, Stationery Stores FC, First Bank FC, Julius Berger FC, and Inter Lagos FC have all used the pitch. It also holds the President’s Federation Cup grand finals, both men’s and women’s, and the Dr. Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament. In December 2024, the stadium fell silent for the Lagos Shopping Festival, a break from sport that featured Adekunle Gold and Wande Coal on the sidelines. The ground is managed by the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), which maintains the official website.
