MSK Arena Sever
Krasnoyarsk, Russia
The Multi-functional Sports Complex 'Arena Sever' sits on ulitsa 9 Maya, 74, in Krasnoyarsk. The building opened on 20 December 2011, when a local contest settled the name; Ekaterina Kovaleva from Dnipropetrovsk won the right to call it 'Arena Sever', and it has kept that name since. It is artificial ice, kept cold by a mechanical refrigeration system.
It has not undergone any name changes. The venue was the home of the VHL club HC Sokol and the MHL team Krasnoyarskie Rysi from 2011 to 2018. In 2018, HC Sokol moved to the new Platinum Arena, and Arena Sever became the home of the BC Yenisey basketball club (VTB United League). The capacity varies by configuration: approximately 2,573 for hockey, 2,600 for basketball, and up to 4,000 for concerts or maximum occupancy.
Notable events include hosting short-track speed skating and serving as a press center during the 2019 Winter Universiade. The highest recorded attendance for a hockey match at this specific venue was 4,453 spectators on 18 February 2020, during a VHL game between Sokol and Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorok. This record was later surpassed at the Platinum Arena. The venue also hosts regular concerts by Russian artists such as MOT and Mari Kraimbrery. It is managed by the Regional Center of Sports Facilities (RCSS).
