MyState Bank Arena
Glenorchy, Australia
Formerly: Derwent Entertainment Centre
MyState Bank Arena was originally known as the Derwent Entertainment Centre. It opened in 1989, funded by a mix of government grants and local council money. For a long time, it was Hobart’s main spot for big indoor events, hosting everything from concerts to netball matches. In 2021, the name changed after a bank signed a three-year deal. That same year, a massive redevelopment finished, costing nearly seventy million dollars. The architects Philip Lighton designed the new layout, and Vos Construction built it. The capacity dropped slightly to 4,340 people for basketball, though it can still hold more for concerts.
The parking lot holds over twelve hundred cars, which is useful when a sell-out crowd arrives. There are plans to expand it further, with a proposal to bump the numbers up to six thousand, but for now, it holds its current shape.
