Sala de sport a LPS Slatina
Slatina, Romania
Formerly: Zăvoi Stadium, May 1 Stadium
Stadionul 1 Mai was not a monument. It stood on Bulevardul Sfântul Constantin Brâncoveanu. The ground was flat and rectangular.
What made the difference was not the architecture but the history of the men who played there. The stadium was rebuilt in the early 1980s specifically to host FC Olt Slatina when they rose to the top flight. The capacity was padded to ten thousand, though those numbers were never reached again. The crowd was smaller, and the matches were closer to home.
The building itself looked tired by the 2010s. The windows on the administrative side were cracked, and the corridors smelled of damp concrete. It was not a ruin, but it was waiting for something. When the work finally came, it did not repair the stands; it removed them. The demolition was swift, clearing the site for a new structure that promised a modern capacity of ten thousand seats. The old stadium is gone, but the location remains the same, sitting quietly between the bus routes and the hills.
