SRK Kostanay

Kostanay, Kazakhstan

The ground does not bear the name SRK Kostanay, a label that belongs to a separate indoor basketball complex in the same city. This is the Central Stadium. It opened its doors in 1964.

For a time, the venue was modest. The capacity hovered around 5,500 seats. That changed with a major reconstruction between 2017 and 2018. The work involved tearing down and rebuilding the Eastern stand while widening the Western side. New seating was installed, and the total capacity was expanded to approximately 9,500. Some sources cite a higher number, but the structural change remains the defining moment for the stadium’s current form.

The playing surface is natural grass, maintained by an automatic irrigation system installed during an earlier renovation in 2004. There is no pitch heating. The stadium received UEFA Category 4 certification in 2022. This was evident when FC Tobol Kostanay played against FC Basel in the UEFA Europa Conference League in August 2023, drawing an attendance of 8,420. That crowd set a record for the venue, matching the attendance from a previous UEFA Champions League qualifier against Ferencváros the year before.

It has consistently been known as the Central Stadium since its opening, with no former official names recorded. The location at ul.
