Tauragė Arena

Tauragė Arena is a new thing in a town of old stone buildings, and the red track gives it away immediately. It is a place for running, for basketball, and, on the rare occasions when football is played, for watching the wind move the ball across the grass.

Construction began in late 2023, and the complex opened on 19 September 2026 with a basketball match between BC Tauragė and BC Jonava. The stand is a single-storey block of glass and concrete, its roof cantilevered out over the concrete terracing. The architecture is functional, borrowed from the recent wave of multi-purpose arenas built across Europe to meet the requirements of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). It is not a football ground, and the track is the clearest proof of that.

FK Tauras Tauragė does not play here. They remain at the older Vytautas Stadium, a half-mile away on Vytauto g. 140, where there are no floodlights and the grass is cut short by hand.
