Tauras sporto mokykla

The ground at Žygio g. 46 stands in the Žirmūnai district. It is not a professional stadium where the national team plays, nor does it have the grand stands of the LFF stadionas nearby. Instead, it is a working sports school, established in 1968.

The pitch itself is the central feature, surrounded by simple metal fencing and a few rows of green plastic seats on one side. Tall floodlight masts rise above the trees, casting long shadows across the grass when the sun goes down. The surface is kept in good condition, marked with white lines for various games, though the specific type of grass is not documented. In the background, residential buildings and trees line the horizon, keeping the grounds separate from the city bustle.

The facility has changed its name more than once, moving from a volleyball specialisation to a broader sports school, and later losing its football section to a separate entity. Today it hosts rugby, field hockey, and volleyball, with the indoor hall accommodating up to 250 spectators for handball matches. The building itself is a three-storey structure from the mid-twentieth century, housing the classrooms and changing rooms that support the outdoor activities.

It is a place of training rather than spectacle. The atmosphere is defined by the routine of practice sessions rather than the roar of a crowd. The history here is local and practical, focused on developing talent in multiple disciplines rather than hosting major tournaments. The ground remains in use, a steady presence in the district, offering a space for sport that is accessible and functional.
