Vidzemes Olimpiskais centrs
Valmiera, Latvia
Formerly: Vidzemes Olimpiskais centrs
The complex is defined by its breadth rather than a single identity. Opened in 2005 as Vidzemes Olimpiskais centrs, it sits at Čempionu iela 2 in Valmiera, yet the name has shifted to Valmieras Olimpiskais centrs around 2021. The football pitch, Jāņa Daliņa Stadions, is one part of the complex.
Jāņa Daliņa Stadions itself holds between 1,000 and 1,250 seats, though the universal hall inside the complex has 1,500. The complex hosted Group A and B matches of the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship, an event that brought Lithuania to Latvia, and later the EuroFloorball Cup 2017.
Valmiera FC, the local football club, has seen crowds reach 1,400 against FK RFS. The facility also doubles for concerts, hosting Maksim Galkin in 2019 and Zivert in 2021 and 2022. The complex is owned by the Valmiera city municipality (62.29%) and the Latvian Olympic Committee (37.71%). The ice rink within holds 500. The football pitch is the most visible part, but the venue is built for winter sports as much as football.
