This ground replaced the old 5 Ocak Fatih Terim Stadı, which stood nearby for decades. The old stadium was cramped and worn, a place where the wind used to blow straight through the open ends. The new one is enclosed and quiet. It opened in 2021, built with public funds by the Housing Development Board, because the older venue was no longer fit for purpose. It is the home of Adana Demirspor and Adanaspor, two clubs that share the town's footballing life.

The first match here was a closed-door game against Altay, a quiet beginning for a place that would quickly become a fixture in the Süper Lig. The record attendance came later, in 2022, when Galatasaray came to town and carved them open in front of nearly 29,000 fans. Since then, it has hosted internationals and cup semi-finals, but the difference between these nights and the old days is not the scale.
