Clément Vidal

Clément Vidal came through Montpellier's academy, where he captained the U19 side in the 2018-2019 season after the team had already won the Championnat de France U19, beating SM Caen 1-0 in the final the year before. That grounding produced only three senior appearances for Montpellier HSC between 2018 and 2021, with most of his football at that stage coming for the club's reserve side, Montpellier B.

The move that shaped his career came in July 2021, when Vidal joined AC Ajaccio on loan. The spell went well enough that the club made the transfer permanent a year later, and Vidal grew into the captaincy at Ajaccio, a role he held into 2025. Grenoble Foot Info later summed him up as a "leader dans l'âme" — a leader in soul.

His time on Corsica ended in September 2025, when Ajaccio's exclusion from the national championships for sporting reasons left him without a club, and Vidal signed for Grenoble Foot 38 as a free agent. He extended his contract with the club in July 2026.

Vidal has yet to add a senior trophy to the U19 title he won at Montpellier, and no international caps or individual honours have followed him at club level since. What he has built instead is a reputation as a captain, first with Montpellier's youth side and then, more substantially, over several years at Ajaccio.
