About the player
Dean Boltz grew up in Palatine, Illinois, and came through the Sockers FC youth setup in Chicago before heading to the University of Wisconsin. There he spent one season, in 2024: fifteen appearances and ten goals earned him Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Before that, in the 2023-24 MLS NEXT campaign, he had already shown what he could do at youth level, finishing as the competition's Under-19 MVP with 19 goals.
That production made him one of the more closely watched forwards heading into the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. Chicago Fire FC took him third overall in the first round, on 20 December 2024, signing him as a Generation Adidas player on a three-year contract with club options through 2028 and 2029.
Boltz made his professional debut for Chicago Fire FC II on 9 March 2025 against Huntsville City FC, and opened his account at senior level with his first professional goal on 2 May 2025 against Orlando City B. A forward by trade, though also used further back as an attacking midfielder, he stands 188cm tall and plays off his right foot, now wearing the number 28 shirt at Chicago Fire.
