Frej Elkjaer Andersen

Frej Elkjær Andersen came through the AGF academy in Aarhus, joining the club's youth system as a boy in 2013 and staying there until February 2026, when AZ Alkmaar signed him and had him sign a contract running to the summer of 2030. AGF received compensation for his development, and the move came after interest from Torino, which Andersen turned down in favour of the Netherlands.

At Jong AZ, Andersen has started life in the reserve side as a regular starter rather than a fringe option: all three of his Eerste Divisie appearances so far have come from the first minute, against Jong PSV, Willem II and Roda JC Kerkrade, for a combined 268 minutes on the pitch. He has yet to register a goal or an assist, and has picked up no cards.

Andersen's clearest achievement to date sits with Denmark's youth sides. Between October 2023 and September 2024 he was a fixture for the under-17s, making 11 appearances that included the finals of the 2024 European Championship at that level. He has since stepped up to the under-19s, where he has been involved since November 2025, with sources putting his tally at either 9 or 11 caps depending on whether qualifying matches for the 2026 Under-19 Euros are counted alongside the finals themselves. He has not yet been called into Denmark's senior squad.

He is left-footed and stands at 184cm.
