Georgi Rusev

Georgi Rusev led the Bulgarian First League for assists in the 2021–22 season, playing for CSKA 1948, the club he joined in 2020 and has now left twice and returned to once. He made 108 league appearances and scored 21 goals in his first spell there.

His route into senior football went through Spain. He began in the youth ranks of DIT Sofia and moved to the Elche academy in 2016. He made five appearances for Elche B in 2017–18, then joined Getafe B in December 2017 and played four times. In June 2018 he came home to Septemvri Sofia. Over two seasons there he played 39 league matches and scored nine goals.

In January 2024 he signed for the Swiss club FC Sion, reportedly for €700,000. During 2024–25 Sion loaned him to Ludogorets Razgrad, and the season brought a domestic treble: the First League title, the Bulgarian Cup and the 2024 Supercup. He returned to CSKA 1948 in July 2025.

He played for Bulgaria at U17, U19 and U21 levels before his senior debut on 23 September 2022, a 5–1 win over Gibraltar. As of June 2026 he had 24 caps and four goals for the national team. Those goals came in Euro 2024 qualifying against Serbia, in 2026 World Cup qualifying against Georgia, in the 2026 FIFA Series against the Solomon Islands, and in a friendly against Moldova.
