About the player
Imre Széles came back to MTK Budapest in July 2025. He arrived on a free transfer from Kisvárda, having helped them win the Nemzeti Bajnokság II in 2024–25.
His football began in Győr. He spent his early years at Győrladamér, then moved to the youth side of Győri ETO, where he stayed from 2006 to 2013. A short spell at the Austrian club Purbach came before his first senior contract, at Gyirmót SE in 2013.
MTK signed him on a free transfer in 2014. He was registered with the first team, but much of his football there came for MTK Budapest II between 2015 and 2017. It was a long apprenticeship in the reserves rather than a quick step into the senior side.
In 2017 he went back to Gyirmót, again on a free transfer. He stayed until 2022, turning out for the senior team and for Gyirmót II. That was the longest stretch he has spent at any one club.
Kisvárda signed him, once more on a free, in 2022. Three seasons there ended with the second-division title. Soon afterwards he returned to MTK.
His career has run in a loop: MTK, Gyirmót, Kisvárda, and MTK again.
