About the player
Igor Thiago began at Cruzeiro, making his professional debut in 2020, before Ludogorets Razgrad signed him for around €1.3 million in March 2022. In Bulgaria he won the league twice, in 2021/22 and 2022/23, added the Bulgarian Cup and the Super Cup, and left for Club Brugge in June 2023 in a deal reported at €8 million, a record sale for the Bulgarian club at the time.
At Brugge, Thiago won the Belgian First Division A in 2023/24 and was named to the UEFA Europa Conference League Team of the Season. The club announced his signing on 14 February 2024 for a fee of around £30 million, a club record, and he officially joined on 1 July 2024.
In the 2025/26 season Thiago finished as the division's second-highest scorer with 22 goals, behind only Erling Haaland. His form peaked in November 2025, when he scored five goals in four matches and was named Premier League Player of the Month. Brentford's supporters recognised the season in kind, voting him the club's Player of the Year.
