About the player
Iván Chaves was born in Crespo, Entre Ríos, and came up through Club Recreativo Libertador San Martín before moving into the Patronato academy, where he worked his way up from the lower divisions. His first taste of senior football came away from home, on loan at Sansinena de General Cerri, where he made his professional debut in the Torneo Federal A in 2023.
Chaves returned to Patronato and had to wait until May 2024 for his official debut for the club, in the Primera Nacional. He established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper the following year, making 17 appearances through the 2025 season. Patronato rewarded him with a contract extension through to December 2028.
In February 2026 he moved to Ecuador, joining Aucas on a one-year loan with an option to buy once the season ends. The club he has joined won back-to-back LigaPro Serie A titles in 2022 and 2023, though those triumphs came before his arrival and he had no part in them.
Chaves has yet to add a title of his own or a national-team call-up to his record.
