About the player
Jamir Berdecio broke into professional football at Oriente Petrolero, making his debut on 14 March 2021 against Club The Strongest. Right-footed and used primarily at right-back, by the time he left for the United States he had made somewhere in the region of thirty-five league appearances without scoring.
In January 2024 that spell earned him a season-long loan to the Philadelphia Union set-up, where he was assigned to the reserve side, Philadelphia Union II, in MLS Next Pro. 31 appearances as the team reached the MLS Next Pro Cup final after winning the Eastern Conference. The loan carried an option to make the move permanent, but it was not exercised, and Berdecio returned to Oriente Petrolero at the end of December 2024.
He had already added a senior international cap by then, coming on as a 78th-minute substitute for Bolivia in a friendly defeat to Mexico on 31 May 2024. He was not included in Bolivia's squad for that summer's Copa América.
Back at Oriente Petrolero, Berdecio has continued into the 2025 and 2026 seasons with a club that has gone without a league title since 2010.
