About the player
In June 2025 Jamshid Iskanderov was awarded the title "Uzbekiston Iftixori" (Glory of Uzbekistan) by the President of Uzbekistan. The citation named his contribution to sport and to the national team's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His career started at Dinamo Samarqand in 2011. He moved to Pakhtakor Tashkent the same year and remained until 2019. Pakhtakor won the Uzbekistan Cup in 2011 and the Super League in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and Iskanderov was part of those sides.
The best individual season came in 2014. He was named Super League Player of the Year, and he had also been Player of the Month in May and again in October.
In January 2019 he joined Lokomotiv Tashkent and won the Uzbekistan Super Cup that year. A year later he went abroad, signing for Seongnam FC in South Korea, where he stayed until January 2022. He then came home to Navbahor Namangan. In 2022, his first year there, he was named Uzbekistan Footballer of the Year. He left Navbahor in January 2025 for Neftchi Fergana.
For the national team, he was handed his debut on 6 September 2013 against Jordan. He has since kept his place in the squad through World Cup qualifying.
